Fiction can be a very powerful tool, but its not reality. The real difficulties is in convincing everbody to believe the same story. You need to implant the same stories in the minds of everybody, otherwise you can't form a system of co-operation.

Humans are now hackable animals. The idea that they have this soul, that they have free will, that nobody knows whats happening inside me, so whatever I choose is my free will -- that's OVER. Today we have the technology to hack human beings on a massive scale.

The new stories that might serve as the basis for new systems of co-operation [ie: control] - we are beginning to see them emerging.......

The ability to invent fictional stories and spread them around, or using ficition as the basis of co-operation, is not a unique phenomena to the religious field. As long as millions of people all believe in the same story, they all follow the same laws, the same norms, the same values, and this is what enables stability. Unless people can find good stories to replace older stories, the technology by itself only results in chaos. Will we be able to produce good stories to match our technology?? If not its going to be very bad news.

And when the crisis is over, its not like were going back to the place where we started. And its the same in so many diffetent areas, in the economy, in the political system. So I can't predict which of these experiments will succeed, and what the outcome will be. That's the danger, it could last long after this emergency, because there's always a new emergency on the horizon. New surveillance technologies that are now deployed just to deal with this Corona virus outbreak, when its over some governments may say 'yes, but there's a second wave coming and we have to be prepared, there's ebola, there's the regular flu. Why not protect people against that too with this new surveillance system?'
